ABOUT THE LOGO
When I was in Bali with my family, I noticed a huge number of barong masks and statues everywhere we went. This inspired me to create a logo based on the silhouette of a barong mask. Batik was highly developed in Java, and whenever I see batik, I immediately think of my home for the past 3 years, Indonesia. Since IASAS Music 2017 is hosted here in Jakarta, I combined these two parts of the Indonesian culture and incorporated musical instruments that mimic the shape of the barong mask's details onto the logo. The colors, blue and white, represent the main colors of JIS.
If you look at the logo closely, you can see the instruments (saxophones, trumpets, french horns, violin necks, tuba, cymbals, and a drum) along with the intricate details of the batik cloth. When you zoom out, you see the barong mask image created by these tiny details. That's how I see music. Music is created through individual notes, expressions, dynamics, and intricate details from every part which gets combined altogether. And when looking at the overall piece, a masterpiece is created. - Alyssa Maxine Natindim, Class of 2017 |
